Zain donates KD 50,000 for Kuwait’s Patients Helping Fund

Zain, Kuwait's leading telecom services provider, announced today that, for the third year in a row, it has donated KD 50,000 (US$ 173,000) for Kuwait’s Patients Helping Fund Society (PHFS) as a contribution towards providing medical treatment to non-Kuwaiti cancer patients and towards supporting the major role played by the Kuwait Patients Helping Fund Society in the field of cancer treatment.
The announcement was made during a meeting that was held at Zain’s headquarters between Zain officials and a number of the PHFS representatives.
On this occasion, Zain’s CEO Mr. Khalid Al-Hajiri said : “We are delighted to make this donation for the 3rd year in a row. This donation will directly benefit non-Kuwaiti cancer patients whom we consider as an integral part of our society as well as of our customer base. The funds will be used by Kuwait’s Patients Helping Fund Society to assist cancer patients during their different stages of treatment".

“Zain allocates a considerable part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget to support Kuwait's health sector. This donation reflects our company's commitment to supporting local charitable organizations that are actively involved in providing health care,” Mr. Al-Hajiri added. He praised Zain’s successful experience with Kuwait’s Patients Helping Fund Society PHFS so far and lauding what he described as a positively active role played by the PHFS in providing help to Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti patients alike.

Mr Al-Hajiri went on to say that Zain was the first private sector company in Kuwait to cooperate with the Ministry of Health and establish a needed hospital. Moreover, Zain  has extended its support to several organizations fighting diseases and promoting awareness, including "CAN" campaign, Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital “KAACH” , the Children's Cancer Hospital in Lebanon and the King Hussein Institute in Jordan.

“Zain views its corporate social responsibility as a major element of its success in the societies where it operates. As one of the leading companies in Kuwait and the region, Zain will continue to pursue this policy to further consolidate its social responsibility programs,” said Al-Hajiri. He urged other private sector companies in Kuwait to adopt a similar stance and allocate part of their CSR programs to expats who form an active integral segment of the Kuwaiti society.
